In February 1964, Scandinavian Airlines located an advertisement in newspapers and magazines all through America. It featured a bikini-clad blonde model exposing her bellybutton posing on a rock above the caption "What to expose your spouse in Scandinavia." The image that regarded in maximum guides had the stomach button eliminated to conform to the regulations.

But when Thai low fee airline Nok Air ran a Facebook contest offering fashions from the guys's mag Maxim wearing yellow bikinis, the emblem shade of the airline, the Thai Ministry of Culture spoke against it for focussing on Thailand's bad reputation. In Russia that same year, the pinnacle airline Aeroflot and coffee cost airline Avianova stirred up a row over bikinis in 2010. Aeroflot posted a calendar presenting bikini clad and bare girls protecting wings, whilst Avianova's promotional YouTube video showing a version in bikini washing its aircraft have become a hit.
