A vent is a slit inside the backside rear (the "tail") of the jacket. Originally, vents have been a carrying choice, designed to make riding simpler, so are traditional on hacking jackets, formal coats such as a morning coat, and, for practicality, overcoats. Today there are 3 sorts of venting: the unmarried-vented fashion (with one vent on the centre); the ventless fashion; and the double-vented fashion (one vent on each side). Vents are handy, specifically while the usage of a pocket or sitting down, to enhance the dangle of the jacket, so at the moment are used on most jackets. Ventless jackets are associated with Italian tailoring, at the same time as the double-vented fashion is typically British. Dinner jackets traditionally don't have any vents.
