Emollients - Many unique components can be used to make lips feel easy and upload shine. Most formulas use oil (both mineral- or vegetable-primarily based), lanolin derivatives or polybutene (a form of hydrocarbon that mimics silicones). Surprisingly, silicones are not normally used (silicones are used to add shine and smoothness to many hair and skin care products).
