Terminology of Suit

The word fit derives from the French suite, which means "following", from a few Late Latin by-product form of the Latin verb sequor = "I observe", because the component garments (jacket and trousers and waistcoat) comply with every other and have the identical fabric and color and are worn collectively.
As a fit (on this experience) covers all or most of the wearer's body, the term "match" became prolonged to a single garment that covers all or maximum of the frame, consisting of boilersuits, diving fits, and spacesuits.
