One of the earliest examples of the use of eyeshadow in the historical world can be located in ancient Egypt. A substance known as kohl (made with the aid of grinding stibnite) become used to intensify the eyes of royalty. In Egyptian tradition, kohl allowed the Egyptians to emulate the appearance of their gods.
