Antenatal perineal rubdown (APM) or delivery canal widening (BCW) is the rubdown of a pregnant lady's perineum around the hole to the vagina, finished everywhere inside the 4 to 6 weeks before childbirth and normally on 4-6 separate activities. The exercise goals to more lightly mimic the massaging movement of a infant's head on the hole to the birth canal previous to delivery, which allows some of the hard work of labor to be performed before the start of labor. The aim is to try to prevent tearing of the perineum at some point of beginning, and decrease the need for an episiotomy or an instrument (forceps or vacuum extraction) transport.
